Using four regional chronosequences, we found that converting permanent grasslands to Scots pine forests significantly reduces soil carbon stocks: in ca. 60 years, the bulk soil C stocks in the organic layer and the top 20 cm of mineral soil decrease by half compared to unforested grasslands.

🚨Biodegradable waste does not always degrade faster than plastic🧪

Here, we compared the degradation rates of 7 single-use items made of biodegradable material or plastic, on land and at sea. In most cases, there was no difference between plastic and biodegradable material... ⬇️
