Oryx returning though has the same narrative feel as "somehow palpatine has returned" and honestly characters need to stay dead to make room for new stories.

I read through 3/4th of this book (before my time with the library was up) and snorted in amusement to the last line of your correction. Checks out and looking forward to when I can finish it.

And yet, I kept doing the thing.

Can't recall what the thing was, though. Weird dream.

But it didn't work, and I just kept laughing. I laughed because I didn't get their reasoning. I understood it just fine. I laughed because they couldn't change me. I didn't want to be changed. I laughed because they couldn't hurt me. I didnt want to be hurt. I laughed at the raw absurdity of it all.

They kept using it on me. Trying to stop me from doing the thing. Kept hitting me in the head with it, as if to say, this is for my own good, that not doing the thing, not being able to do the thing was best for everyone, including me. Nothing I was doing actually affected them, though.
