I don’t understand the criticism this show gets regarding costuming. It looks amazing to me! Is it because we don’t have nine hours of behind the scenes documentaries on a DVD Appendix showing off the craftsmanship to make it count as “legit”? Kate Hawley is fantastic.

I know that no Silmarils ended up in a tree, but I still love the “apocryphal” story about mithril. RoP departs from Tolkien in a lot of ways, but the obsession the Elves have with preserving things (and using the Rings to do that) is spot on!
