okay for the student to e.g. insult the prof and fellow students, right? There are limits to both contracts and free speech

Again, fine, syllabi as contracts is not my problem here, the idea that we immediately have to accept any bad faith interpretation of them is my problem. You can use them in court proceedings but no one is *actually* going to argue that a prof saying "you can express your personal opinion" makes it

I don't think referring to a paper as a personal reflection is a blanket authorization to say any offensive thing you want actually, I don't think that makes sense and I don't get why anyone would be willing to interpret it that way

Not sure a rubric would actually count as a contract but, I'm not an expert so sure why not. And obviously precise wording matters. But even then, surely there would be some obligation of good faith in approaching the rubric-as-contract, and writing offensive shit on purpose wouldn't meet that.

Okay but neither school assignments nor law operate on this kind of genie-logic where if you can find the loophole then you win. Both students and teachers are capable of recognizing obviously bad-faith bullshit. Finding some imprecision in the rubric does not entitle one to a good grade.

At all levels of education I've studied or taught in, if you write stupid shit in bad faith, you can't then go cry when you get the bad grade you deserve, it's wild that this is even being discussed when we *know* TPUSA & co. are behind this. It's an obvious anti-trans attack.

You think the paper was *purposefully written to be offensive* and yet you don't think that automatically makes it deserving of a zero? Idk, I'm admittedly not American, so maybe that's how school works there and 1A really is that powerful. But it wouldn't work like that in any school I've been in.

Ultra-realistic graphics snap people out of immersion *faster* than stylized graphics.

Yeah you can see the character's subtle facial hair but did you also see that they construct a chair by hitting the air with a hammer twice

Si ma daronne m'enferme dans ma chambre parce que je l'ai insultée, c'est une punition.

La frontière n'est pas toujours si simple a établir, elle peut être sujette à discussion dans certains cas, mais une conséquence n'est pas automatiquement une punition.
