When external groups seek to limit or influence the way in which journalism is told, press freedom and democratic discourse come under threat.

MEAA strongly cautions against the adoption of policies that would undermine the independence of the media and arts sectors.

So pleased to be included in this fabulous anthology of disabled poets from around the world. Versus Versus edited by Rachael Boast, published by Bloodaxe. What a power house of talent and imagination. A reflection of the many pathways disabled people negotiate and forge. @bloodaxebooks.bsky.social

Instead of scrutinising how horrific this is, that a young Aboriginal man with disability is killed by police in a supermarket, in front of shoppers, the mainstream media uses passive language, Man ‘lost consciousness’ during supermarket arrest’. open.substack.com/pub/amymcqui...

A gas exploration drilling rig has appeared within sight of one of Australia’s most loved natural wonders, the 12 Apostles.

We don’t need to turn our iconic natural wonders into gas fields. We need to prioritise Australians over exports.

Cancelled my Airbnb account today.

Reasons:
1. As stated by Amnesty International, Airbnb's decision to allow listings in illegal settlements on occupied Palestinian territory is "reprehensible and cowardly".
2. Palestinian campaigners have called for a mass boycott of Airbnb.

Our resistance endures because it is driven by a profound truth: that the struggle for Palestinian liberation is inseparable from the universal fight for human dignity. open.substack.com/pub/ahmadibs...
Palestinians do NOT need the "Axis of resistance"
Palestinians do not owe Syria’s Bashar al-Assad anything. An oppressor cannot be a true ally of a liberation movement.

The founders of Palestinian online station Radio Alhara talk with Resident Advisor about the station's evolution from a project to maintain local connection during COVID quarantine to a hub for global solidarity during the accelerated genocide
