if I encountered a robot asking philosophical questions about what it means to be alive, I don’t think I’d be capable of taking it seriously.

The imminent reality, is that most robots will be just smart devices with humanoid bodies.

Tools of corporations, incapable (perhaps forbidden) of reaching a higher plane of thought/personhood.

I guess fictional sentient robots, at least the subjects of much robot fiction, are unique entities. They’re either an anomaly in a line of mass-produced machines, or a breakthrough created by a lone scientist, for the purposes of altruism, or curiosity.

Growing up, I was really into the ideas of robots in fiction. I found them fascinating creatures I could empathize with, more so than most organic characters.

But now that we’re on the cusp of them becoming a thing, it’s a lot less exciting.

That's kinda Star Trek's whole deal, (at least in earlier iterations) that in the future, humanity kinda got over all the BS we deal with in the modern world. Earth no longer has predjudice or materialism, everyone works to improve themselves and humanity.

Naw, I'm just joking. I like it so far, but the precinct is such a less spooky locatin than a big, Scooby-doo mansion.

I like how much more character-focused it is. It's less scary, but it does make it feel like a big thriller, with all these players.

I'm not one to call an old video game, "outdated" simply because later titles reiterated on it's formula.

But SOTN is the ONE case where I feel like it's particularly applicable, I've played a LOT of Metroid-style games, so this one kinda just gets lost in the crowd, IMO.

Oh yeah, I beat Symphony of the Night,

It was all right, Wasn't crazy about the inverted portion, loved some of the bosses, specifically Beezlebub, holy shit.

I can see WHY it had such a fandom back in the day, but it didn't quite hit for me, today in the modern era.

It's also really upsetting in general how stupid we all are in our early-mid-twenties. Grown-ass people running around without fully-formed brains, affecting the world around them, unaware of how stupid they are.
