Then the fight starts and you realize that it’s just a bullet sponge with like 3 attacks that don’t change between phases. Do you see what I’m getting at here, if the fight was good, this could have been one of the best bosses ever made, but they fucked it up. Words cannot describe my disappointment

And at the center of it all, surrounded by planets and moons stolen away in their entirety, sits the Voidling, a highly intelligent, impossibly large being responsible for the command and corruption of the Void. And there you are, a stranger augmented with strange items against an eldritch god. /5

Then you add in the lore, this place being used to contain and study different life forms, simulating fight after fight until they either die or escape, only to reveal that their entire life they just lived, just escaped from, just died in, was never real in the first place. /4

All the songs feel eerie, taking the original RoR2 soundtrack, which was already intended to feel alien, and distorting anything familiar while still matching it in ways that can’t be described, finishing with a chaotic and loud final song with melodies both working with and fighting one another. 3/

The aesthetic of the Void is incredible. This massive prison-like chunk hidden impossibly far out in space is fucking awesome. The theming of it being underwater, both the environments and enemies fits perfectly with the Lovecraftian style they were going for. And the music matches it to a tee. 2/
