Final update: it cut in halfway through Believe back to SnC. I left around then, but some say the song is still playing to this day…

We’re currently on repeat #5.

We also noticed that a lot of these candidates would frequently ask to repeat the question (or repeat it themselves), and then glance up at a spot "off camera" while giving their response.

It's certainly an interesting time to try and hire someone!

Another candidate had *several* points on their resume for a specific technology my team uses. We asked if that was with "Version A" or "Version B", and their answer was "We use that with analytics. My company uses it but I haven't used it lately."

(You *can* use both "with analytics," I guess.)

One question I ask is "What got you interested in data?"
Fairly simple, gives them a chance to talk about their background and springboard from there.

One candidate told me "You can do whatever you want. Migrate the data, play with the data, whatever is the requirement."

Candidates who can go *on and on* about specific technical details are suddenly deer-in-the-headlights when you ask them about non-technical questions.

It was also surprising how often we would hear nearly the exact same answers back from multiple people.
