furthermore, news outlets buy so many of their news from other companies dedicated to finding the most click-baity news possible. institutional journalism has plenty of holes and subjectivity. substack exists as a reaction to that, regardless of those who misuse it, imo

but it's also easier escaping the lie by escaping the monopoly of corporate news. besides, even from news outlets there's opinion articles that get interpreted as facts by many readers, so I just can't see a good reason why one source is inherently more trustworthy than the other

as far as I can tell both approaches require us (the consumers) to have a critical mind. news outlets also publish opinions and are heavily biased depending on the political party, not to mention that a few companies monopolize on the public opinion. you can say it's easier lying without a newsroom,
