Tripler patients allege they were abused by a gynecologist who worked at the hospital from 2019 to 2023. Do you know about this?
Maj. Blaine McGraw is an OB-GYN who did his residency at Tripler Army Medical Center and worked at a civilian medical institution in Hawaiʻi. He is now under investigation by the Army for allegedly secretly filming and photographing patients, including in breast and pelvic exams. He is also accused of conducting unnecessary procedures without consent, such as inducing labor, touching women inappropriately and making sexual comments. He is in the process of being sued by women in Hawaiʻi and Texas. The alleged misconduct goes back years and could impact thousands. We want to know what happened and what the Army knew or should have known. These are deeply personal and traumatic things to talk about. Civil Beat takes that seriously. Our newsroom will not name victims of sexual assault and abuse without their consent. We will not share your information with anyone other than our editorial team working on this story.

It all started in 1955 with a misprint in a Colorado newspaper and a call to Col. Harry Shoup's secret military hotline. Shoup played along with the tiny voice who called, and a tradition was born. From the NPR archives.
