Oh I would not suggest reading the whole thing, it suffers from terminal Stephensonitis like so many of his other books. But the first 100 pages or so get into the idea of fake vs real information in a way that has become so familiar.

Also, have you read "Fall" by Neal Stephenson? It was written only 6-7 years ago but he did a great job of predicting the signal to noise ratio of information on the internet dropping to near zero.
