Prop M was flawed for a few reasons. It exempted luxury housing (no idea why Preston and the DSA SF team behind it insisted on this when YIMBYs told them it should universally apply if it was going to happen) and it excluded family when counting a unit as occupied.

The avg cyclist is doing 10-15 mph. Doubling that does present a risk. It's like having cars doing 30 and cars doing 60 in the same lane.

I agree that a 30 mph ebike is a convenient solution for distance but it probably should be treated as a motorcycle or scooter vs a traditional bike.

Got a chance to play the D-topia #TGS2025 demo. D-topia is a new game from @annapurna.com and Marumittu Games. It seems like a casual, story-based game on the surface, but the "slightly ominous ending is hinting that there's more to the story."

Hitting a spot 20 on a regular bike isn't hard. Keeping a sustained 20 on a regular bike means you're in pretty good shape. I could likely hit 20 on the Embarcadero today but probably couldn't maintain that from SoMa to Fort Mason even if I ignored traffic lights.

At my best, I could hit 20 mph on my road bike. I was also in much better shape then. The only time I went faster was the downhill run from the Golden Gate to Sausalito and that doesn't require any pedaling.

If you're going faster than that with zero effort, it's effectively a motorcycle/scooter.
