AB is police and crime commission as well as mayor. Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 prevents someone being a PCC and an MP at the same time. That means they’d have to resign before taking up the other. Labour rules say he needs permission to resign and stand. It’s not difficult.

Sorry. He’s only barred from standing as the Labour candidate. As member of the LP he is bound by its rules and decisions. If he doesn’t like it he has a choice.

I’m no fan of SY-L. There’s nothing unusual about this. Trial isn’t delayed and trip aboard was arranged after it was expected to complete. There’s plenty to criticise SY-L for, but this any one of them.

Until the advocates for PR agree on which system should be used to replace FPTP there will not be change. This is why the referendum failed.
