Banning the attorney from this judge’s cases for two years! Don’t think I’ve ever seen that one before (and not sure how that works if her case gets randomly assigned to this judge)

Wonder if there will ever be support for direct compensation to players for bowl appearances? (I think that’s still illegal, right?)

Actually, the company’s name really was Don’s Johns. They supplied Trump’s first inauguration and made news when the organizers covered up the logos! Real Streisand effect shituation

Also presumes the electorate with Trump on the ballot is the same as without. Every piece of evidence in the last ten years says otherwise! Even if Haley could get better % of independents, you can’t ignore many Trump voters who disappear when he’s not on ballot

That’s fine, and certainly true at the micro level for the person who gets laid off. I’m just saying, at a societal level, I wouldn’t lament or resist the loss of jobs like elevator operator, which machines can usually do better anyway.

I think one could draw a principled distinction between a creative human endeavor like interpretation or translation, and mechanical ones like scanning barcodes. Obviously there’s a spectrum, not a bright line, but there’s a difference.

Some people choose to understand Median Voter Theorem to be “there’s one specific guy who’s the Median Voter, it’s that same guy in every election, and if we hit the exact combination of issues he likes, we win.”

Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re related. Many firms could think “most of our juniors don’t last that long anyway, may as well just speculate based on school prestige and hope for the best, because we end up backfilling with tested laterals down the line anyway.”

Alright popularists, it’s your time to shine!

In theory, shouldn’t the whip be the person who works behind the scenes, and the caucus leader communicates? Or alternatively, why not have a Shadow Speaker in addition to minority leader?

Nixon lost a presidential election as incumbent VP, ran for California governor and *lost*, and still ended up being president!

“Home warranty” services are not NOT this. They facilitate and cover repairs past a certain deductible. Quality can be hit or miss (since they hire for price more than reputation) and doesn’t deal with renovation, pest control, etc. But plausible to imagine a beefed up version that could!

We too rarely think about the context: Glorious Revolution to American Revolution was roughly the same time gap as New Deal to now. The Founders weren’t there, but it definitely wasn’t ancient history to them either.

Just like with impeachment: say it loud and often, make them argue against it! Have faith that people will find their arguments as absurd as they are.

Everybody complained about the “BCS computers,” but it turns out the thing they actually hated was having a two-team field. (Now imagine the conspiracy theories a BCS Championship Game *Committee* would have spawned!)

Imagine all the people who would think this sentence is absolute gibberish. How fortunate they are!

I like the underlining of the word “fruit!” Like, fellas, please don’t forget to eat an apple or something amid all this

Banning the word “homeland” from gov communications increasingly feels like a necessity

Would probably help to have a couple of shock primaries won specifically on this sort of message, to make crystal clear what expectations drove the wave

Add another 9 seats, split the court into two divisions by seniority, and jurisdiction for all meaningful cases goes to the most junior division. Nobody loses their life tenure, but they can’t do any more damage.

If she quits early, it tightens the majority margin by one vote until at least the special election. And in the current environment, the special election could go either way.
