BlitzBasic was basic-based, with all the built-in commands/libraries you'd expect to make 2D games; image loading, blitting, sound stuff, etc. Blitz3D added a basic OpenGL 3D engine on top of that. BlitzMax was a completely separate thing with entirely different syntax (Java-style, or maybe C# idk)

i got pretty lucky that way, i know. having unadulterated access to the computer from a young age irrevocably changed me in strange ways. and then i got this and learned many things. also note that the amazon listing for this is incorrect: the third edition does not teach BlitzMax, a Java-esque lang
