Our story also covers how Ecuador's President has won approval to ask voters for permission to rewrite the constitution.

Doing so could strip Ecuador's recognition of nature's rights from the constitution, in what would be a significant blow to the worldwide rights of nature movement.

“Indigenous Rights and Rights of Nature are not different. But if we don't work in unity to save what we have left we cannot achieve the balance needed."

His words call us to unity — to honor Indigenous knowledge and act together to protect all life.

The rights of nature is one of the fastest-growing movements on the planet. Now, scientists are increasingly signing on, working with Indigenous communities and others to advance laws and philosophies on behalf of the more-than-human world.
The Scientists Making the Case for Nature’s Rights - Inside Climate News
A growing number of scientists are backing laws recognizing that nature has inherent rights and intrinsic value. A group of wetlands scientists wants the critical ecosystems they study to be next.

garnglobal.bsky.social
Today we grieve her departure, but we also celebrate her legacy. Her spirit will live on in every struggle for ecological justice and in every living being that continues to thrive on Earth thanks to her work. Thank you, Jane, for showing us how to defend Nature with courage, wisdom & compassion 🌿🐒
garnglobal.bsky.social
She actively supported efforts to recognize ecosystems as subjects of rights, including signing letters in defense of the Los Cedros cloud forest in Ecuador, whose landmark legal victory became a milestone in Rights of Nature jurisprudence.
garnglobal.bsky.social
Jane was a dear ally of the Rights of Nature cause: Throughout her life, she used her powerful voice to speak out against the destruction of life and to help pave the way toward a new paradigm of respect and reciprocity.

With deep sorrow, GARN mourns the passing of Jane Goodall, one of the greatest defenders of life on our planet 🍃

🐒 Her tireless commitment to animals, ecosystems, and a more just and harmonious world with Nature has been a profound inspiration to our movement.
