A lovely little water beetle in the pond today. Dytiscidae species I believe.

Nice to spot a couple of the river snails (Viviparus viviparus) in the pond yesterday; they seem to spend most of their time in deeper water.

Well the barrel pond seems to be doing well, nice clear water and the plants are all ready for spring.

Well I’ve always wanted my own wildlife pond and moving house meant we had room at last. It’s early days, but I’m looking forward to seeing it come to life in spring. All native species.
