NEW: Judge Charles Breyer in California has set a trial date to hear arguments on whether the Trump admin violated the Posse Comitatus Act by deploying members of the California National Guard on the streets of Los Angeles. 

The trial will take place August 11-13, 2025 in SF.

When these agents arrived at restaurants, some restaurant owners chose to lock the doors of their establishment and move everyone away from the door, and wait until the agents left. Others allowed the agents into the establishment. Other restaurant managers had convos outside.

But not all restaurants visited today received these notices - some were just given verbal warnings that they’d be back in three days to check I-9 paperwork. A source indicates between Friday and Monday, there may be return visits to some of these establishments.

The doc says all I-9 forms for employees of the business must be received by HSI no later than 5/12/25, and that any I-9 forms altered or prepared after today will not be accepted as part of the inspection. The form was signed by DHS Supervisory Special Agent Maria Stavropoulos

These agents are, in some cases, issuing “Notice of Inspection” documents, that indicate I-9 inspections will be underway this week. “This Notice serves as your advanced notification that HSI has scheduled an inspection of your company's original (wet ink) Forms 1-9," it reads.
