It's a little misleading to say "suffering is optional" because under whichever context you are living your life, this may not be accurate. The context, however, is always optional and THAT is the key to freedom from suffering in your life.

Having regrets is common. When we say "have" what we really mean are persistent thoughts about the past. A past we wish was different. A past we have not yet accepted.
