Migratory & nomadic by nature. I'm parenting & husbanding here whilst indulging in inconsequential but amusing intellectual journeys
If, as is being reported, a ceasefire in Gaza has been agreed then I can only say thank god.

Too many lives lost. Many if them innocent women and children.

I hope that a ceasefire can also be found in Ukraine.

Last year, for the first time in five years, we took a family holiday to the seaside.

Very grateful to be able to do that and we recognised that the benefits were enormous.

So this year we are going to somewhere in Greece.

Any recommendations?

Dear Americans & particularly those of you in Southern California.

I send my heartiest commiserations & hope that the fires are quickly brought under control.

Reports of hydrants running dry & fires being left unchecked are sad. It's time to look at who extracts your water & profits from it.

After two weeks if snow cover, as everything melts , I find that somebody has prized off the badge on the bonnet of my vehicle.

I'm going to paint something else there because, you know, €20 for a replacement is not happening.

Was it the Beastie Boyz that started this trend?

It's my birthday. I'm now a pensioner.

How bizarre.

On social media, when I am presented with videos of Americans demonstrating their recipes, I find it staggering that they cook so badly.

Seriously my dear Americans, you will have to up your cooking game .

I took a good look at the options and preferences here in my account.

I changed a few of the options from hide to warn or show and bloody hell. There is a lot going on here that I had no idea about.

Did everyone already knew this

A disgruntled Saudi drove through crowds of families enjoying Magdeburg Christmas market, killing 5 with 49 seriously injured & 200 less severely injured.

The markets were supposed to be secured after a previous similar attack & the authorities were warned about the perpetrator

It's sick.

It's a cold comfort to Ukrainians I'm sure, but having Alexandr Usyk beat Tyson Fury convincingly last night must surely offer a little satisfaction and a warm glow.

I sincerely hope that the fighting ends soon.

It's a first world problem I know but I become infuriated when I receive notification that a long awaited parcel has been returned to sender as I was reportedly 'not present' when they tried to deliver it.

Err. Excuse me, I've been here all day. Waiting. The delivery driver never arrived.

State retirement age has been rising in the UK.

Women were hit with a five year increase to 65. The massive jump meant that hundreds of thousands of women, some on the brink of retirement, were suddenly denied a pension for 5 years.

That's wrong.

A payment of compensation is deserved

As soon as 'insurgent rebels' sent a dictator scuttling with his immeasurable wealth. Every other state with skin in the game started 'selectively' bombing anything they don't like.

Oh & redrawing the borders & appropriating bits they do like.

Of the people, for the people. Not this please.

The son of the UK monarch will travel to Paris & join the reopening party at Notre Dame.

My invitation has not yet arrived.

Obviously he's on the gravy train but I wonder if the royal wonderboy, currently engaged in ending homelessness, will take a train?

There it is..today I muted a user here for the first time.

It may be nicer here than the other place but there are some quite objectionable people here too.

Anyway, one less to listen to now

How big is an ice rink?

As I wait for my son's lesson to end I can tell you how cold it is.

How do American shopping malls containing ice rinks keep non skaters warm?

The assisted dying vote comes to the UK parliament today.

It is a vote of conscience.

To me, having a choice at the end of my life, to relieve pain would be welcome.

The idea that I might be coerced into dying by others is a very thin idea.

I support the right to choose.

@jameskick.bsky.social what a fantastic name you have here. I've never managed that much humour in so few letters.

The Winter Fuel Allowance was scrapped for pensioners & they were pointed towards pension credits that they may be entitled to.

Today, my 93 y.o Mum, who lives alone, said she had lost the 'security blanket' the payment provided.

She is feeling a little abandoned by the Labour Government.

My 24 y.o. car needs replacing. I've been looking at the costs of electric alternatives.

Dacia sell the cheapest EV @ £17000. It would meet my needs but running costs are quite similar to internal combustion options.

I have decided I'll have to wait for a credible 2nd hand market to develop.

How and when was it decided to attach caps to their bottles?

I saw nothing about this and guess it is related to reducing plastic pollution, but I don't know how.

Anyone got any ideas?
