For Musk to be elected, even if every Democrat voted against him, every Republican would have to vote in favor. With only a two vote Republican majority one dissenting Republican vote ties the vote and Musk’s effort would be defeated since there is no tie-breaker in the House.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Musk became the next Speaker of the House.
