The "tourniquet around the neck" idea was part of a skit I saw called "Worst Aid," where the performers were demonstrating what not to do in emergencies.

Sometimes I think the GOP Senate majority would have blocked any Clinton nominee on the grounds that "the 2016 election was stolen from Trump."

Earlier this month, the U.S. named its first ambassador to the Bahamas since 2011. What's four years compared to that?

Incidentally, Israel wasn't the world's only Jewish settlement program. Russia has a "Jewish Autonomous Oblast" with Birobidzhan as its capital, and Yiddish as an official language.

The climate was so bad there weren't many people living there to begin with. (3/3)

According to Jabotinsky, Zionism involves using force to take land away from Arabs and give it to Jews - and Jabotinsky saw this as a moral action.

To some people, this doesn't seem very moral.

There are definitions of Zionism which don't involve force, but those weren't Jabotinsky's. (2/n)

IF one accepts Jabotinsky's analysis and reasoning - and that's a very important "if" - since it "is utterly impossible to obtain the voluntary consent of the Palestine Arabs for converting "Palestine" from an Arab country into a country with a Jewish majority." (again, Jabotinsky's words) (1/n)

One problem is that Zionism had a definition before Israel was established.

I'm going to link "The Iron Wall" by Ze'ev Jabotinsky, since

(a) It dates from 1923, and

(b) PM Netanyahu's father was Jabotinsky's secretary.

I've heard it said that New Yorkers are kind, but not necessarily nice, while Southerners are nice, but not necessarily kind.

By that standard, it seems nice involves sugar-coating things.

You are definitely kind, but you're too direct and honest to qualify as "nice."

You're not the asshole.

I also heard, "Truman used an executive order to desegregate the military, but Clinton turned the military's ban on gays into a full-fledged law."

I believe this type of thinking has been a problem for decades.
