Honestly, I just turn off the TV, put down my phone and pick up my Kindle. I usually have 4-5 hours in the evenings to read when I don't do either of those other two things.

And there are choices! I can get the regular guac or the spicy or just the plain avocado. All without a giant commitment.

I carry dozens of books with me in my pocket. On my phone.

It's a toss up between Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe and The Things We Leave Unfinished.

I don't think "helped" is the right word.

The easiest way to start writing is to start writing and the easiest way to keep writing is to keep writing. Don't over think it, don't worry if it's good, don't edit as you go along. Just get the words in your head down on (virtual) paper. That's all that matters. The rest you can fix later.

Ha! I saw your post on my discover feed yesterday but didn't look at the comments. I just found them and yeah, people are weird. I was a bookseller for years and we couldn't "borrow" mass markets because it was damn near impossible to read without breaking the spine. 🤷
