We are actually living in a time where some Christians see mercy as offensive, empathy as a sin, and diversity, equity, and inclusion as a threat.

“Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness.” -Isaiah 5:20

Lord, have mercy.

If your Christianity causes you to be offended by someone asking the most powerful person in the country to be merciful towards the powerless, then you have profoundly misunderstood the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Remember: in the gospels, Jesus got the most upset with those who use religion as a tool of oppression and self serving power.

You don't see Jesus get upset with anyone for showing too much forgiveness, giving too much mercy, having too much generosity or loving others too much.
