A save is a save...and his .873 sv% (.818 last night) indicates he's not making anywhere near enough of them.

I'm not going to give plaudits undeservedly, just for the sake of "being positive". The only player that deserved any props last night was Schwartz, maybe Sprong.
December 29, 2024 at 8:05 PM
Part of his problem is that after he makes spectacular "reaction" saves, he just lays there looking around for the rebound. Watch the first goal by Boeser. He clearly has zero confidence rn, undoubtedly due to goals like Garland's. If I can see it, players surely can too.
December 29, 2024 at 7:57 PM
And unfortunately there are too many "we just want the players to have fun" fans here on Bluesky, calling fans who want to see the team _actually succeed_ "toxic sports bros". I quoted "he's a nice guy, some of us just like him" because that's something that's been said to me here.
December 29, 2024 at 7:52 PM
That's because the goal by DeBrusk was "an important save" and he didn't make it. The only thing that gave them a chance last night was a laughable choke job by Juulsen, Myers and Demko. They were utterly shambolic for 54 minutes of that game.
December 29, 2024 at 7:49 PM
Daccord with “suspect defense” is still managing a .912 sv%?

Grubauer makes $6m a year and isn’t delivering on that number. I get that you’re one of the “he’s a nice guy and we like him” ‘fans’ but that doesn’t cut it on a capped out non-playoff team.

Demko has nothing to do with any of that.
December 29, 2024 at 7:18 PM
"Despite the scoreline" like he wasn't largely responsible for that? The Garland goal was incredibly soft, and the DeBrusk goal was one of those "you need your goalie to make a big save to keep the game close" and he just didn't. You're not gonna get a lot of accolades with an .818 Sv%

I might be right behind you, this is brutal.

Absolutely brutal turnover by Beniers

$6.25m 😂

Then yeah, I read more into your statement.

I’d like to see Burakovsky find his pre-injury 22/23 form as he tilted the ice whenever he had the puck on his stick, but at this point I’ve accepted we probably aren’t going to see that guy again.
November 30, 2024 at 10:38 PM
I’ve long wondered why he doesn’t get looks in the bumper slot on the PP for “Ovechkin” type seam looks, but have noticed lately that even when he’s in that spot he deliberately cycles himself out to the point.

It’s not “hating” to be unhappy with what Francis is doing with this team : perennial playoff / draft lottery bubble team but still 7th highest cap spend, 4 or 5 boat anchor contracts for players in their late 30’s.

Should have traded Eberle last TDL. Keep drinking the marketing kool-aid though.
November 30, 2024 at 10:18 PM
Maybe I read more intention into your post than you meant, then. I was coming off Furness’ post about Eberle and read it in the same “Eberle is the lynchpin” vein.

He’s better than any of the alternatives and has shown chemistry with McCann and Beniers, sure.
November 30, 2024 at 10:14 PM
Burakovsky has been a ghost since his injury in 22/23, unfortunately. He doesn’t seem to click with anyone else on the team, either.

Eberle barely scraped out 44 points last season, and is going to be 35 soon. If he’s the savior, the Kraken are in a lot of trouble.
November 30, 2024 at 9:53 PM
Eberle had 2 points in the 7 games prior to his injury, both assists in the game against CBJ. After his hot start, he was ice cold as well.
November 30, 2024 at 9:10 PM
In the 7 games prior to his injury, Eberle had a whopping 2 points and both were assists in the game against CBJ. He’s 34 years old and barely scraped out 44 points last season. If he’s this teams supposed “savior”, they’re in a LOT of trouble.

This isn’t a social club, he makes $6 million a year. The goal is to make the playoffs and compete for the Stanley Cup, not market beer steins. Either perform or get out of the way. Full stop.
November 30, 2024 at 12:07 PM
Also a showcase for puck bunnies who feel fine for a team some out here enthusiastically support to throw games so long as “that player they like” got to “have fun”?

He’s the 12th highest paid goalie, $6 million a season. When you lay an egg like he did yesterday, “he’s a nice guy” doesn’t cut it.
November 30, 2024 at 12:05 PM
*NHL caliber STARTING goalie

At least, not one that thinks itself a serious playoff team
November 29, 2024 at 11:50 PM
What the hell even WAS this game? Why did it take a full minute for the other 2 Kraken players to enter the frame, while 3 of their teammates were getting the crap kicked out of them by 5 Ducks? If this and the Daccord nonreaction are the "team identity", burn it down and start over.
