📍Omaha
True, but I swear 40s feels colder there! The winter I lived in Göteborg the temp was steadily 30-40 around the clock and it was brutal. Low sun angle, short days, clouds/drizzle, knowing it won’t warm up even a little bit until like May… not having the warmth of the sun makes a big difference

It’s this. I don’t think any district takes remote learning days very seriously. It’s just a formality so they don’t have to add make-up days at the end of the year - nobody seems to have expectations that the kids are getting much of anything done those days.

Ooh it me! We have the unlimited family thing or whatever. I always hated Spotify (not for moral reasons, just didn’t like the UI) so back when we first got Alexa it made the most sense. It’s honestly been great 🤷‍♀️ although I stream music more from YouTube these days to get game remixes and stuff

I usually like cold weather but my fingers and face were not prepared for the 8° wind chill when I was getting gas earlier 🥶

Feels like the first storm in a long time where there was relatively high confidence in where the snow would fall as opposed to all the “just a dusting except one narrow band” or “could be a lot unless the dry air wins out” nonsense y’all have been dealing with in recent years. Hope it continues!

Man I live in Nebraska and noticed the same thing going from Lincoln to Omaha today! I don’t think I’ve ever seen such appropriate winter driving. It was nice but also a little unnerving

tbf I had an banged up sax I used for marching band and saved the good one for concert/jazz bands. That instrument saw some shit 🤷‍♀️

Wow that’s a long con, to go all the way through school studying atmospheric science and establishing a career in broadcast media just so you could *checks notes* tell people online that it’s going to snow in Minnesota.

I do believe some people cannot. But I think there are many who actually can, but think we’re talking about something else so they think they can’t and we’re all just having a hard time understanding each other. And I’m sure everybody has varying degrees of detail in the things they picture/hear.

I always wonder if some of this is thinking that “see” & “hear” mean we see them with our eyes and hear them with our ears vs just mentally. Like if I say “Think of Jim Carrey in The Mask saying Sssmokin’!” I bet most people can remember/imagine exactly how that looks and sounds. That’s all it is.

I miss when it was silly and fun.

Random "inquiring minds want to know" question(s) - if you're driving your EV, does it have AWD, and/or do you have snow tires on it? Curious how EVs handle in winter driving conditions, and if it's a big adjustment as far as how you need to manage the throttle to get through certain spots

Clocky!

My friends are often surprised when I haven’t heard about the latest “huge snowstorm next week!” rumors. It’s very freeing to hear whispers of snow in the long-term and completely ignore it until a couple days out. Still plenty of time to prepare, and way less time spent worrying.

“Burrito supremo at El Zocalo in Lino” would make a catchy song title
