Host of Geek in the Shell Cast / Guest in the Shell. On a never-ending quest to find cats. Currently in my X-Men and RPG era.
Megaten, Capcom, mecha, 90's alt rock and old anime. (Any pronouns, sadly British).
It's been so long since there was any good Magneto stuff so it's great to be back

4) The New Mutants
Despite early low points I was won over quickly with what Claremont was doing on this series he was essentially forced to write. The run with Bill Sienkiewicz on art is my fave comics run now. However when Louise Simonson took over it became something new that I just never enjoyed

Day 119) Bob Dylan Live 1966 (The Royal Albert Hall Concert)
This wasn't as torturous as I was expecting. I didn't enjoy it, but for how much I haven't jived with Dylan's albums so far this one was fine. Probably elevated by a stricter song selection and decent live production. 2 stars.

The most "we're in the 90's now" change is that comics are shifting into sex sells so every issue is starting to have hot woman posing

Before I realised it the art had become incredibly 90's. Also Deathbird is a cool character that's weirdly nonexistent most of the time.

3) Megaman 7
This is the worst one I've played so far! Apparently they made this in 3 months and you can tell, even if the game isn't terrible the difficulty inconsistency is really frustrating. The robot masters are all really easy but some of the Wily castle bosses/platform segments are insane.

2) Spider-Man: No Way Home
It was alright, maybe the best of the 3 but mostly because all my investment was with the returning Sony film cast. The overarching narrative was kind of thread bare and really felt like they were just trying to do Spiderverse but not as good.

1) Öoo
Cute and charming puzzle platformer that falls just shy of 2 hours. Seen it called a Metroidvania but there aren't upgrades or backtracking, just includes a map. The bomb puzzle pace is impressive, with what seem like roadblocks being puzzles you just haven't learnt the mechanics for yet.

2026 MEDIA THREAD!
I decided to do the 12 for 12 challenge this year as it seems actually doable without too much commitment.
Pretty happy with the suggestions I got as well, mostly stuff I already own but haven't gotten around to (I've already played like 50 hours of Hundred Line though).

And that's pretty much it for 2025, I didn't finish any of the RPGs I said I would lol.
Normally I list my 10 faves from the year but for that you're gonna have to tune into the next episode of Guest in the Shell (hopefully soon).
Instead here are some new games from this year you should check out!

125) Sinners
I know I'm like the last person to see this film so shocking no one when I say it's really good. Not my favourite, I feel like there were areas that could've been trimmed, but the feel, musical heart and ideas behind it really shine through.

124) Better Man
Robbie Williams monkey movie. After 20 minutes you kind of adjust to the monkey thing and it ends up being a pretty great film. Better than most other musician biopics, there's enough going on to hold interest (if anything too much) and it's not afraid to show him in a negative light

123) Broken Rage
A marriage of Takeshi Kitano's Yakuza and comedian personas, as the first half is about an assassin getting arrested then the second half is this again but now it's slapstick. Nothing stellar but he's having a lot of fun with this one. Go off king.

122) Stories from Sol: The Gun-Dog
Really enjoyed my time with this, despite a slow but necessary start. When the plot ramps up it really pull you in, so sad that it's a more open-ended conclusion that's not fully satisfying. Some characters lacked charm and felt more like plot devices. Big woman.

121) The New Flesh
Really cool free walking simulator based around music from the band Red Vox, kinda like a series of interactive music videos. May be biased as I already like the band and the visual style here really appealed to me. Surprising amount of content, secrets and additional update stuff

120) Detective Instinct: Farewell, My Beloved
Pretty good for what it is as a short VN/ ADV game. The plot manages to stay compelling, though I wasn't really huge on the characters. A little too heavy on the Ace Attorney inspiration, with "we also have a Maya and Gumshoe". Satisfying overall though!

119) Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum
I'm not a huge fan of found footage flicks, so was glad this was more of a "what if Mr Beast was into haunted locations" parody. Not as good as it'd been made out to be but decent ideas in terms of haunted location scenes. Pretty funny in parts, I think unintentionally.

118) You've Come a Long Way Baby by Fatboy Slim
This was a favourite when I was but a babe, and it still holds up pretty well even if it's not quite a favourite anymore. I used to think the guy in the cover was Fatboy Slim as well. Solid dance music with some classics, important 90's stuff. 4 stars

Despite popular opinion, the answer to this one was not "The Joker".
