I'm a dad who is a bit geeky.

Father of 2 and lover of retro gaming, horror and doom scrolling.
I saw that you can install Linux onto old MacBooks so obviously that means I now have 2011 MacBook Pro running Commodore OS Vision and a 2015 MacBook Air that I'm using for random lightweight Linux distros.
And how much did it cost me all together? £80!

Dear @commodoreofficial.bsky.social, could we have a C64 laptop?
The reasoning is pure selfishness, I have two young kids, Brody is four and a half and Willow is one and between them I don't get any time to sit at my desk so a small laptop style C64 would be perfect.
We all have our little wishes.

Ever bought a system that you know nothing about?
I have just done that, bought an Atari STE 520 with 4MB RAM, TOS v2.06 and a Gotek.
I'm going to need a mouse and will possibly be picking up a mouSTer.

My goals for this bank holiday weekend is to get some pictures down the seafront before and after work with my 7Artisans 25mm f0.95.
Obviously every shot will be wide open and mostly out of focus but isn't that the point of a f0.95 lens?

Why is it hard to find a decent case in the UK for the Analogue Pocket?
I like the ones from Waterfield but the Sportage is half the cost of the case!
August 7, 2025 at 5:44 PM
I have been tempted with getting an Analogue Pocket for a few months and then I saw my local CEX had some in stock.
A big trade lasted and I'm now the happy owner of a black Pocket.

Now to put it with the rest of my systems for it to gather dust.

Is this the best use for a PowerBook G4?
I do have some plans for it, more RAM, swap the HDD for an SSD, get a new lid and faff around with MorphOS.

The Mrs and the Kids have been asleep for hours so what do I do with my time?
Watch a film?
Read a book?
Gaming?
Nope.
I doom scroll YouTube and waste yet another evening.

The next project (after tidying the gaming corner) is to build myself a C64.
I don't have the soldering skills so will be going down the C64 Reloaded MK2 route, i know it'll be way much cheaper to just buy another C64 but this way it'll be built just how I want it.

I have a stationary problem, currently in my work bag I have 2 pens, 2 marker pens and a mechanical pencil, that's not including the pen I have with my notebook and the pen I have in my pocket.

And believe it or not, I'm not the stationary fiend, @afternoonbooker.bsky.social is!

I'm new to the world of Apple so obviously I buy myself a 17" PowerBook G4 with plans on turning it into a "Amiga" laptop with MorphOS.

The little man has gone swimming with his mum and nanna so the leaves baby girl and myself.
She's fast asleep in my arms with Blade Runner Ambient music in the background while I'm looking at spending money I don't have on a whole EDC change.

That's a new camera and lenses acquired, talk about all the gear and no idea!

Not to blow my own trumpet but it took me 1 hour to dismantle, change a CMOS battery then rebuild a fat PS2 and all while still serving customers.
Never done it before so yea, I'm well chuffed with myself for that.

I may have bought the perfect (for me) monitor for my retro systems.
A 19" 4:3 Hannspree TV with HDMI, VGA and SCART!
January 11, 2025 at 8:26 AM
The little man is at nursery, the baby girl is playing with mum and I'm sitting at my deck with a nice hot coffee.
What are my plans?
Pop on some ambient, download new desktop wallpapers, look into a new messenger bag and window shop some photography and retro gaming books.

Is it home time yet?

My new notebook and pen came ready to start writing down any random ideas or random nonsense but 1 big issue, it's blue ink!
January 5, 2025 at 9:46 AM
One of my main goals for 2025 is to read more so I have tasked @afternoonbooker.bsky.social to help me start by finding a book she thinks I'll enjoy.
I have no idea what it is till it gets here and I'll be starting on new year's day.

This is my desk, my main retro gaming area. Yea it's a cluttered mess but it calms me.
December 26, 2024 at 12:37 PM
I have stumbled upon a goldmine of cheesy martial arts films.
I'll be back straight after the Christmas break.
