Sticks was made officially by SEGA but for an alt universe spin off game which SEGA/ST want to forget.
As much some JP purists/Archie fans want to deny, Surge is actually part of the main lore, only that's she's exclusive to the comics for now and act as spin off to Forces/pre-Frontiers.

Yeah. I suspect SEGA didn't give a cent on Surge until her concept art surfaced in early 2021 and everyone became a fan of her just for that, not even Imposter Syndrome #1.

They will recap the IDW story IMO. They know Sonic fans can get extremely toxic if they change ONE thing about their fav character.

Surge is probably the only Sonic character that never appeared in any official game (excluding mobile games) that has got at least 4/5 professional made theme songs that could easily fit in a Sonic game.
SEGA, maybe it's time to wake up and do something about it, hm?
