Yesterday, at the Centre Albert Borschette in Brussels, the #EuropeanCommission consulted civil society on the future strategy for gender equality. Gender Five Plus was there to make its voice heard.

On April 17, 2025, a high-level meeting on Ukraine took place in Paris. Around the table: 11 men, 0 women.
Political leaders, diplomats, decision-makers — but no women, no civil society, no peacebuilders.

The Gender Equality Index 2024 is out, and while progress is happening, the data is a wake-up call. The EU’s average score is 68.6/100, showing slow but steady improvement. Yet, violence against women remains one of the biggest barriers to true gender equality.

European institutions have taken important steps to promote gender equality, LGBTIQ+ rights, and combat racism. However, we must not forget that the road ahead is long, and the work to achieve true justice and equality remains immense—especially in these challenging times.
