I want to take a moment to shout-out the show Severance for weaving in commentary on the collusion between corporations, religions, and politics to achieve nefarious goals. Hopefully the rest of the audience is making these comparisons as they watch, too.

Bell Hooks' "Feminist Class Struggle" is another reading that stirs that familiar feeling of rage and exhaustion that I seem to feel all of the time since I began taking sociology courses. It's like I'm living in a Christopher Nolan movie showing two timelines at once:

Regarding "The Long History of "You're Not Ugly, You're Just Poor" [RANT]," she brings up an extremely valid criticism that can apply to anyone who has their own platform full of fans. Whether they're a celebrity, an influencer, or a streamer, people with fan-bases have a responsibility.

The Boys had a phenomenonal season where they explored what online toxic masculinity does to troubled males when all of their time is spent in their own, hate-fueled bubble. And you know who hated that season so much that they tried tank its ratings? That's right, toxic male viewers.

I'm both thrilled and horrified at what some consider masculine/manly today. On the one hand, we have God of War 2018, a game that I bought for my friend, a new father, because I fully believe any male who completes that game will become a better parent.

Masculinity, the term/concept that will never be agreed upon, is a detriment to society, and I'm saying this as a cis, straight, white male. To use/practice "masculinity" in the stereotypical way when raising a child is to ensure that child will grow up hateful.

Euphoria is weird. Yes, some teens start having sex in high school. One of the whole purposes of school is for the students to establish and nurture relationships, and sometimes high-school sweethearts get married. But to imply that the norm is for teen girls to bang older men is irresponsible.

It's hard not to curse when writing these not-tweets. I'm angry that Nigel the 6th-grade teacher should consider himself lucky he has a job because of the growing number of "outraged" parents ready to go to war because a book had two gay penguins. It's infuriating because he's right.

"The Gospel of Eureka" didn't anger me as~ much as most Christian documentaries. I was initially rolling my eyes at the idea that these are "good" Christians, assuming they wouldn't comment on the horrific rise of white-nationalism parading as Christians currently in government today.

Lisa Wade's Salon article, "Sex shocker! Men and women aren't that different," started off really strong with that opening paragraph, but the ending felt extremely flat. By the end of the intro, I understood the premise. Human men and women aren't as different as other species. Cool, but how?

"Mexico's Third Gender" from Vice surprisingly left me with a litany of questions even though the entire video was an education about its subject matter, the "Muxe" people. I don't understand how to describe accurately within the confines of my American mind.
