The first blog of the new year is always a pressure-packed affair, in a “only Rob can feel the pressure” sort of way. What sort of tone should I set for the next twelve months?
Well, you might be surprised with my choice for my 2026 opening act.

I've heard about "Iowa Nice" for most of my life. It's a way those of us who live here can poke a little fun at ourselves. But there is a truth behind that fun, nice isn't always kind. And I've come to believe I would really rather be "Iowa Kind."

Why are we prone to buying into scams and false narratives? Sometimes we want to believe something too much or we fear the loss of something dear to us. With all of the false narratives around us we need to think harder about who we're going to believe.
