I like this team but am increasingly being convinced a playoff run in not in the cards this year. Getting a lead in the playoffs is tough. If you can’t hold the ones you have, forget it.

I do not like the McCarthy hire at all but have convinced myself the Steelers went with him 1) to identify and develop a young QB, and 2) because they were underwhelmed by the crop of prospective HCs right now

The 2026 season marks year 5 without a franchise QB. Using the Bradshaw to Roethlisberger gap as a guide, next season is year 1 of the Bubby Brister era. After that, we have several years each of Neil O'Donnell, Kordell Stewart, and Tommy Maddox before hitting on the next true franchise QB.
