When you say that nobody is going through all that for a trend, why not? Look at the history of body modification.

How many is “tons”?
Gender dysphoria used to be something so rare that it’s unlikely that you would have multiple people in your inner circle who struggled with it, yet that doesn’t seem to be the case with Gen Z.

I’ve had lots of trans people in and out of my life for the past 30 years. Friends, acquaintances, coworkers, etc.
They were genuine, though.
Not the nonbinary wannabes on social media staved for attention.

Comparing knee replacements to mastectomies or bottom surgery is a bit silly. If you regret knee surgery, it’s probably because it didn’t treat the problem and you can try always try something else and you’re not liking to have to live with the regret for 50+ years.

Knee replacements are a little different that getting your junk changed.

Actually, the regret rate is really hard to pinpoint in the US due to our decentralized healthcare system but it’s obviously increased. People tend to get surgeries like that when they’re older and people only regret lask if something went wrong or it didn’t fix the problem.

…but I think many people, including myself view it that way.
I don’t believe that non-binary gender is something other than how one views any other aspect of their personality. Gender dysphoria is real, but cmon—some people are transitioning as part of a trend.
