I like sport, entrepreneurship, business, investing, politics, science. Not necessarily in that order.
Perhaps our government will take inspiration from this and cut VAT on leisure, restaurants and gyms?
The move to cut the VAT rate to 9% for food services, entertainment and hairdressing has been widely welcomed by food and hospitality businesses, but will customers benefit from a similar reduction in prices if the rate is cut?
Will your burger cost less if the VAT rate is reduced?
The new draft programme for government includes plans to cut the VAT rate to 9% for food services, entertainment and hairdressing in the next budget.

It’s interesting how in Ireland the hard right (Sinn Fein) have underperformed exit polls. I know it was close to a three way split, but SF were 1st in exit polls and 3rd in final result.
This was the moment Independent candidate Gerard Hutch, also known as ‘The Monk’, arrived at the Dublin Central count at the RDS.

Labour’s Marie Sherlock took the final seat following the distribution of Paschal Donohoe’s surplus.

Agreed. Every government in recent memory has wanted to increase home building so it’s pretty indefensible to say ‘it was harder than expected’- if it were easy, any of them would have achieved it. They’ve got to be more determined and resilient.
Labour really need to understand that this stuff isn’t negotiable: voters need to see that the government will do whatever it takes to make it happen, not just keep explaining how difficult it all is.
Huh, govt talking about swapping out its growth target for some sort of disposable income goal, per @samcoatessky.bsky.social this morning.

The person that wrote this has clearly never played rugby…you won’t meet an unfit international rugby player but plenty might be considered ‘fat’ by many definitions….
