I have a student, who is now a junior, who is trying to let microsoft word assign names for all of his written assignments for his entire college career. I just graded "Document (137)" in the dropbox. I appreciate students like this.

Just spent 50 minutes trying to convince college freshmen that the university will take your money and give you a degree AND let you cross that stage completely unprepared for what is coming next. The learning and shaping who they want to be is really up to them. Professors are here to help.

Are “religion” and “church” the same thing? One is fairly clearly identifiable. The problem is that the First Amendment is talking about the more opaque one.

The legitimacy of the power of courts depends on their giving of legal reasons for their decisions. Justice Jackson is obviously correct. SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND PEOPLE are now illegally going to have their status terminated early — as every court other than the Supreme Court has found so far.

Not a single word of justification from the Justices in the majority to justify this. NONE. Not one.

So, I did our Constitution Day lecture last week and I did not hold back on what I thought (but I was professional about it), and now a couple of other profs are wanting to hold more events to have honest discussions on campus about what’s happening. Permission slips.
