Building a catamaran named STARBUG. It will look similar to the above photo, but with significant safety and comfort modifications.

I just found out I won’t need to hire any pilot cars to move my boat into Oregon! I’ll just have to make it about 30cm narrower to keep it under 14ft. Wonderful! What a load off my mind.

I have 16 of these! I’m so happy I don’t have to buy any! These are for the casters for the dolly I will make for the hull. I’ll have to move it eventually because the owner is selling the property where I’m building the boat.

Many solo sailors are not often properly attached to the boat. Some leave a trailing line in the water thinking they will grab it if they fall in, but I think that’s just fishing for something very large using yourself as bait as the boat sails on.

The lifeline on a boat, all you need to know to use it safely
_ The lifeline is the link between the sailor and his boat and is the point of attachment of the harness lanyard when moving around the deck. It must therefore be accessible, practical and solid. Here...

Going to Bluesky is like going to your aunt’s house, and she’s right about everything politically, but her friends/housemates are Hollywood Zionists, and they’ve all agreed never to talk about Palestine.

Lows in the 40s means outside epoxy work is done for the year. Kinda depressing.

It’s remarkable that Bluesky never has any news about the genocide in Gaza.

I swear I’m never going to make that mistake again.
September 26, 2025 at 1:38 AM
It’s a mistake any halfwit could make. I knew I had made a mistake when it remained rubbery after six hours. The clumps show up when you sand it. Here I had started to grind it off.

This house built on the beach in Indonesia is brilliant, because there will be another tidal wave.

I’ve got about 8 gallons of epoxy left which means I’ve used 22 gallons, which means I’ll need to get more epoxy, but not until spring. I also need for time to slow down, because I’ve only got about two more guaranteed weeks left of this year of warm enough weather for epoxy work. A fortnight.

I sanded this today and it even looks smooth to me on the security camera. Not the bow, just the hull side.

I knew fairing would be a lot of work but I didn’t know it would also be no fun. This thing better float.

Why did I skip to the end of the deck support with the fourth batch? I’ll explain later when I do the YouTube channel.
August 20, 2025 at 4:21 AM
Big fillets started. With the peel ply on top I’m hoping to make it smooth but also ready for fiberglass when the deck is connected to the hull.

The plan for this evening

It’s been in the hundreds for the last few days so too hot for epoxy, but back to it now in the high 80s.

Deck support in place.

It’s a lot of work and if you don’t do it 100% you just create more work later.
