An evening listening to @guyshrubsole.bsky.social and others in Exeter was inspiring. So lovely to hear positive stories about the environment, and what is being done to protect our temperate rainforest. Left with so many ideas to update our lesson about temperate rainforest 🌳🌧

Such a good time chatting all things geography after a busy day at school today. Huge thanks to everyone who came along, and here's hoping for more next time!

Thank you to @geogenquirer.bsky.social and @ga-exeter.bsky.social for making me so welcome to your first meeting. It was great to hear Matt talk & chat to other passionate geographers.

Loved my first session with my geography trainees last week. Some brilliant freebies for them from @geographicalassoc.bsky.social, brand new subject knowledge booklets I worked on last year, and new handouts to reduce their cognitive load. Fridays are the best 👌

This summer @geographicalassoc.bsky.social 's asking children to pick a 'local treasure' & draw a map to it from their home inc local landmarks

It might be a swing in the park, a friend or granny's house, local shop or something else you treasure.

One thing I've noticed from my review of the department this term is that students are unclear as to what they need to do to improve. So post mocks Y10s today, colour coded the exam qs to identify areas of improvement.

Happy to chat schools etc if you are thinking about Devon

I live in Devon and it's brilliant! Still close enough to London (2hr30 on train) but you have the coast and Dartmoor. Plus Cornwall is a day trip. Love Devon ❤️

This rings a distant bell that I might have done but a long time ago. I think we did a short speech they had to write first and then present to the class

Y11 spent some time today analysing an 8 mark exam question. They used three colours to spot the key criteria and examiner would look for: chains of reasoning, key terms and TLAG (thinking like a geographer) 🤔
