While browsing Africa on google earth I noticed something striking inside the Mulanje Mountain Forest Reserve in Malawi.

What I found was a story that was not told in the Western world. A story of a unique storm that traveled for 12,785 km, doubling back on itself 3 times. #science #geography

These stunning black beaches are formed like any pristine beach you may see elsewhere in the world, but the key difference is in the Pryoxene mineral grains that weather out of the surrounding basaltic rocks in the region.
