Data nerd, cat person, and tree hugger wrapped up in one bundle of stress and evidence-based living. Irrepressible tendency to play devil's advocate and fact-check even things I want to be true. Opinions and statements are my own.
I guess I should use tags like I always forget to. #politics and #democracy and stuff.

So going forward can we try to remember that MOST people on the right aren't the idiots on social media, and make sure policy doesn't shove antithetical ideas down their throats like they've done to us?

The alternative is endless cycles of revenge, and I don't think anyone really wants that.

There are legitimate worries under the onion layers of hate Trump has fed in the right.

Pride and shame, to use terms from 'Stolen Pride' (highly recommend).

Addressing those concerns without condescension may go a long way.

There are real problems, and the left hasn't effectively addressed them.

Because they're not going away.

We're as stuck with them as they are with us.

If we keep doing the same things -charging forward with 100% dem agenda as soon as dems win and imposing that agenda on everyone -they'll feel like we do now.

There will be another Trump, and this will start over again.

My spouse argues Trump is basically a stress test identifying all the loopholes, divisions and problems(govt, parties, whole shebang) that will need to be fixed in subsequent, more sane times.

True, that's an important distinction to make

Well you must admit it's pretty funny given...omg just everything about Trump *dies laughing*

But consider this: as a classic bully, few things seem to get under our lord of pumpkins' skin more than people laughing at him. So it's not all wasted.

Most hilariously MAGA argument I've seen so far on twitter: "Epstein said he's terrible so that shows how great he is"

I'd tend to say Epstein was speaking as a subject matter expert on evil, but y'know 🤣

Devil's advocate hat: we knew they were friends, so quality > quantity of appearances.

The bit about "asked ghislaine to stop" was interesting.

I tend to assume the worst when it comes to moral behavior and our president, but...stop what?

Devil's advocate hat: we wanted to defund the police...

Perhaps a little less demonization and a little more funding -> more oversight and more people -> less burnout might have worked better? 🤔
