Trusting your doctor is something most of us take for granted.

But a Times investigation has today has sparked a government review after we reveal how doctors accused of sexual misconduct and serious clinical errors abroad have been cleared to treat NHS patients.

The leader in today's Times on our investigation into doctors with overseas malpractice being cleared to treat patients.

Lapses in vetting by the GMC and NHS trusts were a scandalous dereliction of duty that presented a clear risk to patient safety.

This investigation came from a global effort to track down doctor misconduct data, which we programmatically matched against data on medical licenses.

This was co-led by @thetimes.com @occrp.org and @vg.no and today dozens of outlets are reporting stories from the project.

One doctor was fired when The Times approached their employer with its revelations, and another is under suspension.

Wes Streeting described the findings as “horrific” and “a serious failure in our medical regulatory systems that I will not tolerate”.

The sale has emerged as she has faced renewed scrutiny over her links to Jeffery Epstein.

A client of the lobbyist that employs Angela Rayner’s partner, ex-MP Sam Tarry, secured two meetings with ministers in her department this year.

One great tidbit is that ministers are warned to check whether domestic staff have met "legal and financial formalities".

This likely references immigration minister Mark Harper's resignation in 2014 after it emerged his cleaner did not have permission to work in the UK...

Great reporting by the BBC who managed to wrangle out of the government a copy of the ministerial interests form, which the Cabinet Office resisted at tribunal at a cost of more that £30,000 to taxpayers.
