I love the way Helene Landemore puts it: that we have assumed that representation happens best via transfer of authority via consent. But consent, in the real world, is a process that is highly manipulable, and highly controllable through $$$. Randomness gets us real representation.

Lizza’s who-knows-how-many-parts blog series reminds me uncomfortably of the guy who kicked off Gamergate by posting a giant screed enumerating every wrong he thought she committed in their relationship. Trying to ruin your ex’s life by torching her to an audience primed to believe everything.
