Jordan Ott on Khaman Maluach: "You know how big and long he is, it's obvious. His ability to run just creates a different dynamic, the vertical spacing that he has above the rim. And then just the overall size and rim protection, you can feel it every second he's out there."

I asked Khaman Maluach how he improved in different defensive coverages last year at Duke and his switchable defense:

"That I can do it at this level"

"Pushing me to do more [than 3-and-D]"

I asked Brian Gregory about timing of trading for Mark Williams and then drafting Khaman Maluach: "We were very poor protecting the rim last year. Now you should be able to have a full game where there's protection of the rim....To get both those guys, we weren't passing that up"

Brian Gregory on the Suns trading Kevin Durant and the return: "Our biggest thing was to find a way to bring in the valuable pieces that would help us continue to move forward in the right direction...So the team got together at the end and felt pretty good about what transpired"

After Khaman Maluach talked about having “delusional dreams” of reaching the NBA, I asked him what the next delusional dream is.

“I don’t try to think ahead too much, I just try to embrace everything that I have ahead of me right now.”
