Amalgam of mostly Irish, brummie & by adoption krakowian. A bit of a lefty I guess. Big reader of European & ancient history. Love walking the Tatras & Scottish Highlands. From the Dubliners to Schubert is how I take my culture, the best of everything.
Luke Kelly singing Parcel of Rogues frequently waltzes through my thoughts these times.

Gerard your brilliantly moving story reminded me of this haunting place we came across on one of our treks in the Highlands. Both bring home to me how much of a lottery one's existence is, the descendants of 'navvies'.

Remembering the lost souls of the 'Graveyard of the Unknown'
The concrete headstones sit high on a grassy knoll, overlooking the reservoir that the people buried here died building. There are 22 stones but most are simply marked ‘unknown’.

Synchronicity! To quote Bill, "There are more things in heaven and earth , Horatio.......... .etc. Think there's more to this reality stuff than meets the eye.

Putin and Trump, an example of convergent evolution. It's all about me no matter the cost and suffering of the masses.

He's no more ignorant than Joseph Goebbels was, just both talented at identifying opportunities to exploit the ignorance of the gullible.
