You would think that you wouldn't go back to screening until you achieved this level. I find it perplexing and obviously anxiety producing. I'm going to try to figure out if this is a BC Cancer thing or specific to the diagnostic place I go to. I'm also taking up a screening spot.

Make it make sense. I have lumps in my breast. I go for a screening mammogram, then get sent to diagnostic + ultrasound. Those tests come back 'presumed benign.' I get kicked back to screening and start the merry-go-round all over again. Why get kicked back to screening each year?

I've decided that next time a reviewer critiques how I use Interpretive Description in a study I'm going to send Sally Thorne an email to get her take and then include that in my response to reviews. #QualitativeResearch

I was asked to be on a panel at a conference. I said I would be happy to but would need to join remotely. The lead panelist checked with the conference organizers and they said they cannot accommodate remote presenters.

Such a shame that in 2025 technology does not exist for remote participation /s

Went for my mammogram today and the clerk checking me in whispered "we have the same birthday." Always a good omen.

It's great to equip patients with info but it doesn't mean that we will be listened too. My dtr is intellectually disabled & this group receives notoriously poor gyne care (if any at all). She is not a candidate for an IUD. How do we convince clinicians this is not a normal period?

This is great information. How do we convince our doctors to do something about it? My daughter had her period for almost a year continuously, became severely anemic, and I was constantly advocating for her. What words should I be using to get things moving (the issue is now thankfully resolved)?

Me too. Huge disappointment. At least the next book in the series will come out sooner than later.

Thursday Murder Club movie proves once again that the book(s) are always better than the movie/TV show. Some poor casting choices and whoever styled the Joyce character clearly hadn't read/listened to the audiobook. And Ibrahim is demoted to a caricature not a character. Screenplay writing abysmal.

It probably does but I don’t use a citation manager.

I am now going to spend time changing the references in a paper to a different format so the journal will accept my paper even though they do have copy editors and for a 5K USD open access fee they could bloody well do this themselves.

But no.

Another win for billion dollar publishers.

I am a person who is pretty good at being alone. But over the past year there have been times where I felt lonely, which is an unusual feeling for me. So both the movie and the bump-into were good reminders to myself that it's nice to feel part of a group sometimes too.

I finished watching Thunderbolts. Very good movie. I also bumped into someone who I haven't seen since before March 2020 out on the street and we had a lovely catch up. A good reminder from both that it's good to not feel alone.

You need some short-term respite hours at home because you are burning out? BOOM here you go.

You need a couple of dressing changes so you don't need to go to emerg for wound care? BOOM here you go.

You need some medications to take home to tie you over until the pharmacy opens? BOOM here you.

I recently read about the CEO of the Ritz giving each employee the ability to spend 2K on guests. I don't know if this is true or not but if we ran our healthcare system that way we'd be further ahead than behind.

Anyone else remember when we could use clinical judgement to allocate resources?

Sending positive thoughts your way. My daughter’s spine is fused from the top down to her pelvis. She has chronic complex pain that no one seems to be able to treat.
