Time to share a #painting. "Doon Point and Glen Head" came out of a time friends trusted me to navigate when in Donegal and I brought them here where they were happier than the times I brought them to piles of stones. Started this when I got home and 15 yrs later it was finished. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics on canvas. Two headlands jutting out from right. Far headland is a pale teal ridge with steep slope to fringe of magenta rocks at water. Its outermost edge is truncated and drops rockily from top height almost sheer to water. Near headland is lower and a very uneven rocky shape topped with grass of warm greens. A fissure separates it from another rocky shape topped with bolder darker greens. Both parts of the near headland have grey and purple rocks breaking through their grassy tops. At the edge of the near headland are maroon and purple strata down to its foot where rocks are pink and purple in a dark blue water. In the foreground from those rocks to the bottom of the painting the water has shadows and rippling diagonal stripes. Further back, between the headlands and to the horizon, the water is a much paler blue with some feint horizontal strokes. Bottom right corner has a patch of blazing orange grass punctuated by purple rocks. Sky is bright soft pale lilac and blue clouds with off-white tops. Signed bottom right: Liam Daly

A #painting for you. "Cobh II" came from a day I spent cycling from one online friend to another, stopping in the Cork Harbour town to paint this view of the town from the pier. At one point my stool collapsed and with my dodgy knees I was like an insect on its back. Good times. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear

Below it and to the left is a row of tall dark blue supporting arches under the green stone boundary wall and walkway which drops down to a jumble of blue slate roofs. Along the bottom across the full width of the painting is the front street scene of 7 buildings, each with 3 stories though of varied heights, and joined together save for one gap. They have shop fronts at street level, upper stories are coloured, left to right, pink, white, yellow, orange, red, teal, and yellow, with contrasting window frames and details including dormer windows. Buildings are 3 or 4 window bays wide, all narrow windows coloured in a blue or a black. A couple of small trees with a ball of bright green foliage are on the left, and up beside the cathedral there is one at the left end and 2 at the right. Have a #painting. "Birds on Branches" came out of a time I had a studio and as I cycled the 8km there there was a particular tree I invariably found myself going past right as throngs of starlings were beginning to settle down for the night. #SpeirGorm #BlueSkyArtShow #ArtYEar

Time to share a #painting with you. "West Cork". My knees often aren’t happy in west Cork. People have to lift me out of couches. On the other hand when you cycle up those hills, or even their mountain passes, you tend to get glorious views. So I painted this, it’s my West Cork. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear

Another #painting from another time. "Slemish" came out of a wonderful stay in County Antrim. On a drive to Broughshane we stopped to look at the view across to the mountain, and the landscape reminded me of when I had been cycling in (what was then the FYR) Macedonia. #SpeirGorm #JanuArty

Time for another #painting. Done a long time ago. "Burren Tower" is on the coast of Clare. Apart from the hypnotic fields of stone, the Burren is riddled with tower houses - or what's left of them - often standing improbably with not many walls left. This is Shanmuckinish Castle. #SpeirGorm #ArtYear
Landscape format in acrylics. View down a burnt orange boreen on the left, between walled fields of green, to a ruin of a tall narrow castle-like tower house, rendered in greys of lilac and blue, as is the surround wall of the lot where it stands. Behind it is a very pale blue and green inlet, and a headland projecting out to the left in warm green and orange with some fields, four clumps of probably trees of dark reddish brown, and its softly curved upper slopes topped with lilac horizontal stone. In the foreground a dry stone wall, of purple stones with blue shadows between, drops down along the right side of the boreen and bends to the right where the edge of a modern white house can be seen. Sky is pale blue in upper left, and lower down a pale yellow - almost white closer to the horizon. Photo was taken before painting was signed.
