These are all really lovely. Thank you for sharing them.

Walking

Not sure why I didn't put this with the group yesterday. But looking at the photos from the session, it is one I like. Given the statistics of the internet and sharing it might be the least popular of them all (not the goal)

one person walking left to right - multiple people walking right to left, a light post and tall grasses behind the figures.

Abstract #2

The completely oversaturated image also falls into that total miss but maybe also working better than if it was perfectly exposed.

people walking in a motion blur with aperture way too wide open for the amount of available light and shutter speed.

Abstract #1

revisiting yesterday's motions after thinking, and wanted to look at initially the least successful at the goal but in way more perfect from being so far from the mark.

Nonsense, coffee is ALWAYS the answer 😁

Thank you 🙏

i have an abysmally cheap and crappy M42 Vivitar, it was all I could afford way back in college (made a bit after this one, but not by much), this is night and day different.

Seems this V.3 might have been the pinnacle (of these zoom range) made by Komine.

There's a lot in that last book that is kind of perfect for the right now.

(Bonus for referencing Art & Fear)

Good light reading even if there are excessive references to Twitter 😉

More specifically it is version 3
(for those keeping track)
And yes it is heavy (lots of glass) and push pull is kind of annoying but unlike say the Nikon zoom gravity doesn't seem to change the zoom.

oh good idea... have a few of those but not in a enough sizes but maybe one for the next time I try this

Why does it seem every lens I have has a different thread diameter?
gewilli.bsky.social
Sometimes I just stop on my commute and try to answer a question using the Internet.

And yeah It's raining and dark and I put some K100 in the K1000 and even bumping to ISO 200 it's obvs dark.

And somehow I haven't figured out how to open the lens up to 2.8

When at 70mm it's locked 😞
Photo illustrating that I've stopped on the side of the bike path. In the leeward side of the trees along the bike path.

Shutter speeds all seem different, although hard for me to tell if 1000 is faster than 500 but the rest feel about right.
gewilli.bsky.social
It's pretty svelte compared to my Spotmatic SP 😁😉

Has been on the short list of cameras I've been wanting.

Need to fill it out with some old K-mount lenses now, darn.
gewilli.bsky.social
Thanks for that, I've got a bit of both, will give it a try if I end up using this a bunch.
gewilli.bsky.social
Fresh battery and the meter is responding.

Test roll next!

Although the lens is a bit 'loose' bounced around a bit in transit perhaps...
gewilli.bsky.social
It was an unexpected surprise.

I don't need another Pentax but it's my first k mount to go with my 3 M42 Spotmatics (my OG SP one, the black SPII and the Honeywell SP 1000)

Looking forward to trying the lens on the K3 mono

So an old cyclocross friend asked me if I wanted his old film camera. I said yes.

And what do I have now?
An Asahi K1000
And a Vivitar series 1 VMC 70-210 f2. 8-4

I might even have a fresh battery for the camera!

From the beginning I should have ordered the stuff. But hey I clean stuff like this all the time (and sometimes mess it up)

One thing that makes it less fun is having to power the shutter up and the blinky red light makes it feel more like de-fusing a bomb, esp with the sensor so far back.
gewilli.bsky.social
I'll take a look at that. Thank you.

Kind of want a redo on this camera, both in the first couple cleaning I attempted and the whole keeping it clean. I'm way behind the curve in creating good digital chip care habits.

This is one of those times when having some neutral density filters would be helpful (I don't have any)
gewilli.bsky.social
As low as it goes... 200
gewilli.bsky.social
The full bright sun made it extra challenging, esp with this monochrome sensor. Stopping the lens down to F32 and still overexposed a handful.

Another✔️ in the film camera box

Sensor is always clean (to start with)

LR remove tool to the rescue

Unfortunately all this dirt is my fault somehow, I was a bit cavalier in the first two years of ownership, now I'm that stereotypical super cautious lens swapper

call it an exercise/working with a different challenge
