The guys on our local radio station who are there are giving mixed reviews. Of course, they have to go through the Tenderloin at 3 or 4 a.m. every day to do their CST morning show at the convention center. I think they described it as a hellscape but are complimentary about the rest of the city.

I kept my subscription even after the editorial change and earlier cutbacks because it was almost free. I've had the $29/year deal since 2019 or maybe even earlier. However, I canceled this morning. Even 8 cents a day is too much for the product I expect them to put out.

Oh yeah, Bama, Ole Miss, LSU, and Arkansas love Texans with decent SATs. It doesn't even have to be a great SAT, decent will get you a good scholarship to a school with a great social scene.

Legend on the paternal side has it they were carpenters of German descent who immigrated to Virginia in the 1700s. Other speculation is they were Huguenots who immigrated to England and then to Virginia. However, the paternal line is mixed w/ Italians and Irish so my origin story is typical American

Judge Reyes’s conclusion: “There is an old adage among lawyers. If you have the facts on your side, pound the facts. If you have the law on your side, pound the law. If you have neither, pound the table. … Having neither and bringing the adage into the 21st century, [Noem] pounds X (f/k/a Twitter).”

Good jobs are scarce down on the border. DHS is one of the biggest employers in South Texas. Also South and West Texas Hispanics draw a big distinction between themselves and recent immigrants, especially the ones from South and Central America. Trump carried Laredo in 2024.

Yes but due to gerrymandering, they combined those burbs with the most democratic white neighborhoods in Fort Worth. The leg may have sliced the bread too thin.

It’s a purple county. Beto, Biden, and Colin Allred carried Tarrant County. But the state senate seat here is mostly suburban and definitely red with blue pockets in the city of Fort Worth.

Is this related to the Arnold & Itkin crash in Maine? The news articles described Arnold as a huge donor to Republican candidates.

Yeah, he's going to get on Marco Rubio's list and have a carload of goons kidnap him on a street corner and deport him. JK but fear of having his visa revoked is not unreasonable.

Just guessing but probably south Texas. DHS is a huge employer along the border and hires a lot of local people.
