An important point and yet another indication of how incredibly uncurious the current millennial generation of political reporters is about anything that happened before them. You simply cannot be an effective political reporter if you have no interest in or knowledge of history.
Jimmy Carter pardoned his brother Billy Carter who took over $200,000 from Libya as its foreign agent.
George H.W. Bush pardoned his son Neil Bush for his role in the S&L scandals of the 1980s.
Nobody thinks those pardons defined either presidency.
Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter Biden won't either.

An important point and yet another indication of how incredibly uncurious the current millennial generation of political reporters is about anything that happened before them. You simply cannot be an effective political reporter if you have no interest in or knowledge of history.
As a retired journalist I have to agree. While I subscribe digitally to WSJ NYT WP, all too often I get more comprehensive news by reading social media.
A key asymmetry of this era of American politics and how it’s covered is that Trump is expected to do bad and corrupt things, so when he does it barely qualifies as news. But Dems are expected to be beyond reproach, so anything that seems even slightly suspect is a huge scandal.

Kushner NYT write up on his selection as Ambassador to France fails to mention who the witness was that he intimidated-his brother-in-law. Can’t be an accident that NYT left that part out.

Can’t quit twitter yet
As much as I would love to cancel twitter I still get lots of news that I can’t find here. I learned about the Syrian rebels taking over Assad’s palace on twitter and I don’t think the msm has it yet.
