Finally have the heart to update.

Nothing was helping Bruno, and we had to let him go.
Doctors assume he had a stroke and was slowly declining. He left this plane surrounded by those who love him and matched his big hearted energy. We will always miss him.
Bruno, an orange and cream cat, is curled up in a bed next to me at the computer. Bruno us cuddled up with another orange cat, Daidai. Bruno is splayed out while lying with the other cats, toes flexing as he stretches. Bruno is being a silly boy, laying upside down as he half flops off of a cat tree.

After a day of being quite happy but not peeing, he's back in the hospital for more catheter, more mess, and possible surgery.

(They have capped his bill after the last additional extension.)
Bruno, an orange and cream cat, is happily getting scritches in his hospital kennel. He is on some good benzos.

He is home and not very happy with us (but still gave me head bumps). Needs to be under heavy supervision, so he's in my spouse's office (/the spare bedroom).

My buddy. They had to put the catheter back in, so he can't come home yet. He's on some additional antibiotics. We visited and got some snuggles and a lot of grumbles.
Bruno, a cream and dilute orange cat, is in someone's arms, wrapped in a blanket and wearing a cone. He is not happy about his situation.

Sorry I've been distant. It's been rough.

One of our cats is taking a multiday stay at the ER because he can't pee and needs quite the procedure to fix it. Poor Baby Bee.

After everything I went through to find Victory, the Quantum re-release pretty much fell into my lap.
In a grocery cart two bottles of Jones Soda Nuka Cola Quantum are on a stack of groceries. It's bright blue with a purple label. There's also mayonnaise, frozen veg, some Torani syrup, and cherry pomegranate drink powder.

My little buddies are slowly having more putty added.
Two wooden dolls with wire arms and legs sit on top of a vert dusty tool box. They have green colored plumbers putty sculpted onto them to give basic faces and hair. One has horns. How they sit they look as if they might be having a picnic or are loitering outside a gas station.

Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona.
Scrubby trees curtain the colorful plateaus, bits of green in browns and purples. Standing at the ledge, red dirt, the landscape expands out to forever - only buildings a couple of far off camps. A Pueblo-style building (museum? Visitor center? Can't remember) is mid way between the camera and a large hill in the distance. Looking down from a high cliff, more hills and plateaus stretch off to the horizon.

We have a new garden toad!
Perhaps the mate of First Toad, or a teen of the tiny baby toads from last year?

They eased up to me a lot quicker than first toad - settling down quickly after we initially startled each other.
There is a well-camouflaged, medium-sized toad in mossy colors. They are under a large leaf, giving me a bit of side eye. I potentially interrupted their dinner.

Small gardening update:
- Wax bush beans appeared from nowhere! (Well, on the bean plant but didn't notice them starting.)
- We've also had a few random steawberries.
Close up of a plant in a raised bed, the leaves are large. There are several long beans growing and turning yellow with some small white blossoms promising more. A plant I'm the ground with rather tight and small leaves. A single strawberry is vining off, ripe and ready to be eaten.

Can't seem to get over the feeling that large quote trains are being set up for scraping.

But here's the most recent photo of me on my phone. Different hair and glasses since last selfie post.
It's me in a bubblegum pink and black wig, making a face at the camera. My glasses are back to being square, but smaller than the last square glasses I had. I'm wearing work clothes - a blue and red plaid button down shirt and a black hoodie with spikes on the shoulders.

We stopped at Meteor Crater in Arizona.

Very cool. This hole is huge.
An astronaut suit stands in front of a brick wall with a window hole in it, almost making it look as if it's on another world. The crater! A bowl of earth, trees growing on the rim and a distinct circle in the center. A silvery bronzey rock. "The Holbinger Meteorite is the largest discovered fragment of the 150 foot (45 meter) meteor that created Meteor Crater."

Road tripping to different biomes.

Hey, NM! Y'all got ground coming up out of the land. What's up with that?

(Was driving, so no good Mesa shots, but they were also very impressive.)
Hills are framed by a Valero gas station. The sky is very blue. Ended up down a random road. There are some buildings the same colors as the dirt and rocks, scrubby plant life, and long hills. More scrubby hills, showcased with power lines and a truck to maybe give some sense of scale.

A field mouse looks to the camera from her green, humane trap with large black eyes, curious and happy enough after a meal of peanut butter. She is being walked to a wooded park where she was let free and ran off to be a good mouse, less in danger of an unintended death. A+ behavior.

Not sure if it was the potting soil or that we were reusing containers, but a bunch of our stuff had little ink caps pop up this rainy morning.
A tiered set of plant pots contain strawberry plants and groups of small, thin mushrooms. A few hours later they'd mostly dissolve into black goop. A small black container on a patio with larger containers around it has a single one of these mushrooms popped up in it.

I've been dialing in this coleslaw recipe over the past month. It's great for making and then eating from through the work week.

It's good. It's real good. Put it on a burger or sandwich or eat it alone.
(It's even better with a touch more salt, but I'm limiting my intake.)

#recipe
2/3 cup mayonnaise 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar 1 Tbsp sugar 1/2 tsp celery seeds 2 tsp kalonji seeds (Nigella sativa) 1/4 tsp salt 1/8 tsp cracked black pepper (a few good cranks) 1 shallot diced (55g-ish, can sub in red or yellow onion, but remember it's raw onion you're crunching on) 1 16oz bag slaw mix Mix everything except your cabbage and carrot together in a big bowl. Then add the slaw mix and fold together to coat it. Can be made in the morning for an evening meal, but is best 2-3 days in. Serves 6-8 as a side or sandwich topping. It's Coleslaw! Shredded cabbage and some carrot in a creamy sauce with specks of black spice.

It's a box of honey mangos on a kitchen counter. They're very ripe and need to be eaten/preserved before spoiling.

A friend brought over some chickweed they're getting out of their yard. The girls are crazy for it.

We have grazing space growing for them right now and have been getting them regular greens from our backyard crop but this is a great treat.

Newest D&D Day experiment is a rose and chocolate pudding pie.

It was going to be a mint chocolate pie but I couldn't get the mint flavoring right.

Rose with tea and syrup and petals on top, set with gelatin. (Colored via non dairy creamer and gel coloring) Pudding is just instant. Frozen crust.
A pie sits on a marble counter. The pastry is crimped. It has an open top, a few bubbles marring a dark rose pink liquid that needs to form up, dried rose petals are sprinkled over the top. The pie has set and been cut into, revealing a dark chocolate pudding below a thin layer of pink. The top has wrinkled slightly in the cooling and transporting to another house, but it is still a lovely color and looks fancy with the rose petals on top.

A familiar spot in the trail by work where I regularly take photos. There is red clay lined with trees that are starting to leaf. The sky is blue and cloudless. They've been working to widen and divert the thin trail that is starting to erode away, so to one side of it it's freshly chopped down - distressing but not as distressing as watching the old path turn into a gully.

This man has a wonderful personality, but zero smarts.
A dilute orange and cream colored cat is curled up in a cat bed next to the camera. There's a bookshelf and back door behind him. His eyes are closed and he's very loosely curled on one side. Same cat has turned to face the camera, cheek resting to the bed as if he's having a sleepy conversation.
